I have been out of commission for the past few months, morning sickness turned into all day sickness! I am now feeling better and ready to get back into making Madelyn Hats! I have a few available right now. Please email if you or a loved one need them! They are free and ship for free as well!
I can't help but think how excited Madie would have been to know I'm pregnant! She knew we had wanted another baby for a long time, but gave up over a year ago after not having any success. My mom says Madie found the right ear to bend in Heaven!
We are also approaching the one year anniversary of her passing. My church is saying a Mass for her on December 31 and again on January 11. I can't believe it has been a year! I really miss her!

Jackson Hole
My husband and I flew out to Jackson for my step-mom's memorial service in the Grand Teton National Park. It was a beautiful service. I'm thankful God gave me the strength to stop crying just long enough for my reading! After, we went outside and the priest blessed two benches in her name. It was some good closure, just what I needed.
I've had a few requests for Madelyn Hats. I'm happy to send them out!

Full Circle
I heard from a family member of someone who received a Madelyn Hat recently. She was very sweet. As much as the Hat helped her loved one, it helped me even more! What a blessing, God is so faithful to provide encouragement when we need it!

10 New Madelyn Hats are ready to go!!
Monday morning I'll be mailing out 10 Madelyn Hats to Madie's sister. She will be bringing them to the Gathering Place in Cleveland Ohio. I hope these hats can be a blessing to someone up there! I am also finishing up a few Madelyn Hats for The Florida Cancer Specialists office in Bradenton. My mom has her PET scan coming up, we're praying for continued good news!

Nothing new...
I went by to pick up my hat stand from Dr Berry's office. They said the Madelyn Hats went that day! The nurses were using the stand to hold some other hats that had been knitted. I decided to let them use it. All that money those doctor's make and they can't spring for a toilet paper holder that doubles as a hat rack. Sheesh...let the one income stay-at-home mom do it!
Well, I have some fabric on reserve and hope to get some hats going soon! They will be going to The Gathering Place in Cleveland Ohio!

I'm not worthy...
I just received my step-mom's sewing machine today. It is a "mac-daddy" sewing machine and I feel I'm not worthy of this level of machine! Let's say my sewing machine is a kia and her's is a BMW.
She made some amazing quilts using this machine. It has so many buttons! I hope I can make her proud! I think it is very special I'll be making the Madelyn hats with her pattern and her sewing machine! It's been a tough few days!

Confirmation
I made my first hat a few weeks before Madie passed away. When she gave me her pattern, the instruction that came with it said for me to call her and she would walk me through putting it together. I knew she wasn't feeling well, so I didn't want to bother her and just made it on my own. I sent her a picture of my friend wearing the hat, so she knows I did it. But, I wasn't sure if I was making it the same way she did it. Hers were always so awesome!
Thursday, I received a box of her sewing accessories and well as a few of her hats. It was very emotional for me to go through her sewing crafts and I treasure all of it because it was hers and she loved sewing with a passion! I am blessed to have had such a wonderful step-mom! Once I looked over the hats that she made, I found that I am making them correctly (except for one minor detail). Her pattern was also enclosed.
It's been almost 2 months and it seems like a bad dream. When I think of her, she looks so great. I am blessed to have great memories!

More Madelyn Hats...
I have been working on more hats in my spare time! I have two blue tye-dye and one pink and khaki finished. Pictures to come! My next shipment will have 12 hats. Looking forward to attaching the nice new tags and getting them out. I'm not 100% sure where they will be going, possibly MD Anderson. That is where Madie received most of her treatment. It's hard to believe it's been 33 days since she passed away!

New tags!

The Madelyn Hat tags arrived today! Each Hat or Shopping Cart Handle Cover donated or purchased for a loved one will sport one of these lovely tags! I think Madie would have liked the print for sure! The color teal is used for Ovarian Cancer Awareness.
I am thankful for the people who have asked me to make hats for their friends! It makes me feel like my step-mom is still here!

This is my dear friend Jennifer and her Madelyn Hat! You can make a cuff to cover less of the ears or wear it with out the cuff, like Jen. Poor Jen received the very first Madelyn Hat, which I goofed on and didn't realize it until recently. So, she'll have a new one soon! :) Thanks Jen for being my beautiful model!

An ending brings a beginning...
On December 31, my step mom lost her 4 1/2 year battle with Ovarian Cancer. She and I shared a love for sewing. She was sewing her whole life, I've been sewing about 4 years.
She was an amazing woman and handled her life on chemo with what can only be described as "God Given Grace". She was almost always positive, even through the worst and lived her life to the fullest. Because of her faith, she died knowing she would live forever.
It is in her memory that I am using her chemo hat pattern and making hats for other people fighting this terrible disease. Please bare with me, I am still learning. I do hope that each person receiving a Madelyn hat, knows that it was sewn with great love and prayers for a cure!
