- The photo is of my step-mom, Madelyn, holding my oldest son at his Baptism. I am a stay-at-home and homeschooling mom to my 5th grade son and my youngest turned 3 in May! My husband is a teacher and high school football coach. I lost my step-mom, Madelyn, to ovarian cancer on December 31, 2009. She fought a tough fight for 4 1/2 years. I was blessed to receive all of her sewing accessories and her treasured machine after she passed away! In her accessories, I found the pattern she made to sew all of her chemo hats. I used to use her sewing machine to make each hat, but I now use my moms. My mother, Lynda, passed away December 13, 2014 after an 8 year battle with cancer. It is bittersweet for me to be using my step mom's sewing pattern and my mom's sewing machine.
The purchase of Madelyn Hats:
I've had several people inquire about purchasing a hat. I am not charging for the hats or shipping and it is my goal to keep it that way. However, if you would like to contribute a small amount, your money will be put towards fabric to make more Madelyn Hats.
